This is my tribute to the many wonderful people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. A day that will live in our collective memories. I chose Lady Liberty looking toward the twin towers against the night sky. The buildings in the foreground are burned in various shades of sepia and the Twin Towers rise like bleached skeletons in outline. The windows outlined as if they were lit on any typical night before the attack. Those windows represent to me the lives that were cut off in the most normal of days. I used black chalk on the night sky to give it a soft mat finish like velvet with no stars visible. All the light depicted comes from human endeavor.
This piece measures 21” x 25” is burned on Strathmore Bristol Board paper and is framed, floating in a heavy dark brown frame with no glass.
