Marsha Wilson is a self taught artist, who burns fine art onto wood, paper, and leather with the Walnut Hallow versa-tool and other hand held tools. She started burning twelve years ago with a simple hand held wood burning tool. She fell in love with the ability to bring images to life with such a traditional tool. She started out with solid silhouettes and typography, now she loves to challenge herself with shading details and burning on paper. She prefers the freedom of burning, it allows her to concentrate on the piece rather than mixing paint and trying not the let the brush dry out. The burner responds to her hand like an extension of it, especially now on leather. The leather’s smooth surface and quick response to the heat makes it a new favorite medium.
